Divine Knowing, Sacred Knowledge, Intuition, and Our Subconscious
Tarot Tuesday - Week of 7/14/26
On Tuesdays I’ll be posting a tarot card that I’ve pulled for the upcoming week. This gives us a chance to tune into what the universe is asking of us and reflect on how we can incorporate that suggestion into our lives.
If you’re finding this card another day, you’re meant to see it on that day. The Universe puts messages in our path when we need to hear them. Use it as a way to reflect on what you’ve seen and how it can apply to you.
Today’s card: The High Priestess
Message: The High Priestess is a card that calls to our inner power and knowing. The High Priestess tells us that we are leaders and teachers around intuition. Not only are we experts of our own experience but we have the knowledge to share with others who may experience the same. The High Priestess sits on a throne, where her seat is daylight in the shape of a moon. Moons signify intuition and our subconscious. Daylight signifies strength and conscious awareness. Sun rays streak in through the right corner of the card, showing a divine “crowning”. There is a curtain behind the High Priestess, with pomegranate images on it. The curtain indicates sacred knowledge.
What I like about The High Priestess is that it is a Major Arcana card, meaning there is no way to influence the message. The Major Arcana are markers of where you are in The Fool’s Journey. The High Priestess being the 2nd (technically 3rd) card in the Major Arcana tells us it’s the beginning of a new journey. One that tells you you’ve landed on a reminder that you have divine knowledge, power, and intuition. We can take this to mean multiple things: 1. That we are being ordained to teach others. To guide a community and light a path not seen before. Or 2. That we are to take our divine knowledge and act accordingly. In this approach, we teach by example. Although everyone’s life experiences are different, there are many overlaps and similarities. Sometimes we have more wisdom and knowing of a situation than others do and by acting in our own best interest, based on our intuition, we model to others the steps they can take. We set a path, walk it, and others see a new way of thinking and doing.
The High Priestess doesn’t ask that you sign up to teach a course or suddenly start giving people unwanted feedback and guidance. The High Priestess is more of an inner knowing of our power and experience. Our ability to not only navigate but also incorporate the conscious and subconscious mind gives us strength and skill that others may not have considered. We don’t have to act more pious and self righteous in our interactions with others based on this, we can simply know what our strengths are. An important thing to remember when we are “teachers” is that we don’t have to shout it from the rooftops and rub it in other’s faces. An esteemed teacher shares wisdom when asked and moves with that wisdom otherwise. I’m a firm believer in attraction rather than promotion. Others will see my behavior and responses and if that resonates with them or is something they want, they will ask for guidance. I don’t need to suddenly start preaching to every person I encounter. We’re allowed to take pride in ourselves without it being boasting. We’re allowed to settle into knowing that we live an intuitive life and be proud of the work we’ve done to tell ourselves that these intuitive messages from the universe are not nonsense.
The High Priestess is asking you to consider what might you do if you’re acting on your divine knowledge and wisdom? What might we change about the way we interact with others if we’re stepping back from preaching and instead acting with integrity? What does wisdom look like when it’s from within? What can we gather from our subconscious mind that we can apply to our conscious everyday? What do we already know that we’re now ready to see? What can we see in ourselves that we’d like to continue to nourish, water, and tend to?
